Heat Loses Mourning

Miami Heat backup center Alonzo Mourning has a partial tear in his left calf and will be sidelined two to four weeks.

An MRI exam Thursday revealed the tear, suffered in Wednesday’s loss at Detroit. Mourning was averaging 7.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.6 blocked shots.

The Utah Jazz honored former standout Karl Malone by unveiling a bronze statue of him in a pregame ceremony and retiring his No. 32 during halftime.

Toronto waived Antonio Davis, 38, who had sat out the last 12 games because of a back injury after being acquired from New York on Feb. 3.... Willie Green re-signed with Philadelphia, nearly seven months after the guard had agreed to terms on a six-year deal but suffered a knee injury in a pickup game before signing it.... Point guard Howard Eisley was signed by Denver for the rest of the season after two 10-day contracts.
