San Jose Man Killed in Skiing Accident
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A 20-year-old San Jose man was killed in a skiing accident Tuesday when he apparently struck a tree at Northstar-at-Tahoe, the Placer County sheriff’s office said.
Benjamin Michael Sumner was pronounced dead at the scene about 2:45 p.m., Sheriff Edward Bonner said in a statement Wednesday.
Sumner had been skiing with friends at the time and was not wearing a helmet, Northstar-at-Tahoe spokeswoman Nicole Belt said.
Ski patrollers began resuscitation efforts but were unable to revive him.
