3 Mechanics Killed as Faulty Elevator Plunges
From Times Wire Reports
An elevator being repaired in a Bangkok high-rise malfunctioned and plummeted more than 20 stories, killing three mechanics on board, police said.
The mechanics were working on the elevator on the 25th floor of the Citibank building when it suddenly plunged to the basement, said Sgt. Nisai Kluaysawat of Bangkok’s Thung Mahamek district police station.
Two mechanics survived. One lost an arm and suffered minor injuries, Nisai said. He said they were in the process of changing the elevator cables when it fell.
