Man Suspected in Slaying Captured
A man suspected of shooting his girlfriend to death and wounding another woman before fleeing in a hijacked car was arrested Sunday in the 5300 block of Rosemead Boulevard, officials said.
Eric Simmons, 35, was booked at the Temple sheriff’s station on suspicion of murder in the death of Isabel Sanchez, 36, of East Los Angeles. Bail was set at $1 million, said Deputy Paul Schrader, a spokesman for the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.
The shooting occurred shortly before midnight Friday in East Los Angeles, Schrader said. After allegedly shooting Sanchez, who died at the scene, Simmons is believed to have wounded a second woman in the vicinity before hijacking a passing car to get away.
