* Bin 8945, a modern bistro and raw bar offering nearly 60 wines by the glass, is opening in West Hollywood in mid-June. The chef is Matthew Carpenter, formerly sous chef at Bacar in San Francisco and Josie in Santa Monica. His partner is David Haskell, who has held positions such as dining room manager at Le Cirque and wine director at Aquavit, both in New York City. The kitchen will be open until 1:30 a.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

* Starting tomorrow and continuing through Aug. 19, the Palm restaurants downtown and in West Hollywood are offering a lobster promotion that includes a 4-, 5- or 6-pound lobster split to share, two salads, two side dishes (creamed spinach and onion rings, perhaps) and coffee or tea for $75 to $95, depending on the size of the crustacean.

* Eurochow, restaurateur and designer Michael Chow’s 7-year-old Westwood Village looker, has closed, though the restaurant will continue to take bookings for special events.
