Dmitry Afanasenkov scored the only shootout goal in the seventh round, leading the Tampa Bay Lightning past the New York Islanders, 3-2, Friday night at Tampa, Fla.

Lightning goalie Johan Holmqvist, who stopped 29 shots in regulation, didn’t allow a goal during the shootout. He earlier made a glove save on a shot by Viktor Kozlov with 42.8 seconds left in the third period.

The Islanders’ Rick DiPietro made 36 saves, including one on Vincent Lecavalier on a two-on-one with 1:29 left in overtime.

Colorado 3, Columbus 0 -- Peter Budaj made 25 saves and the visiting Avalanche ended a four-game losing streak. Joe Sakic had an assist to tie Stan Mikita for 14th on the career list with 926.

Carolina 4, Washington 1 -- Rod Brind’Amour and Eroik Cole scored power-play goals less than two minutes apart in the second period, sending the visiting Hurricanes on the way to their fourth victory in five games.

Buffalo 4, Pittsburgh 2 -- Martin Biron made 34 saves at Buffalo, including 16 in the second period, to win his fourth game since taking over the starting goaltender duties from the injured Ryan Miller.

Dallas 5, Atlanta 3 -- Mike Ribeiro scored two goals in the first period to help the visiting Stars hand the Thrashers their third loss in a row.

New Jersey 3, Ottawa 2 -- The win was the Devils’ seventh in 10 games and their fourth in a row at home, where they are 8-1-1. The Senators are 2-7-1 in their last 10 games.

Calgary 4, Detroit 1 -- Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 29 shots at Calgary, Canada, and ran his shutout streak to 160 minutes 27 seconds to set a club record, bettering the mark of 160:07 set by Fred Brathwaite in 2000-01.

Vancouver 4, St. Louis 2 -- Markus Naslund scored twice and Ryan Kesler added an insurance goal with 1:01 left to lift the host Canucks.
