Holidays, done the Hollywood way

Share

In years past, many of the movie capital’s greatest stars have served as grand marshal of the Hollywood Christmas Parade -- Bob Hope, Jimmy Stewart, Sammy Davis Jr. and Arnold Schwarzenegger, to name a few. In honor of its 75th anniversary, this annual kickoff of the holiday season in Los Angeles, for the first time will have two grand marshals: Comedian George Lopez will serve as grand marshal and television personality Regis Philbin will be its diamond jubilee honorary grand marshal.

Teen pop artist Brooke Hogan and soulful crooner Michael Bolton will perform during the parade. Wayans brothers Shawn and Marlon, Isaiah Washington of “Grey’s Anatomy” and the cast of “High School Musical” will be among the other celebrities of stage, screen and television making appearances. An estimated 500,000 people will greet the holidays as they view exotic cars, floats, marching bands and other performances. Viewing from the street is free; grandstand seats are available for $35. The parade will be televised live on KTLA.

Hollywood Christmas Parade, Hollywood and Sunset boulevards between Highland Avenue and Vine Street, Hollywood. 5 p.m. Sunday. $35 grandstand seating. (866) 727-2331. www.hollywoodchristmasparade.org.
