Manny Fernandez made 30 saves, and Petteri Nummelin beat Roberto Luongo with a nifty double-move backhander in the shootout Tuesday night to give the Minnesota Wild a 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks at St. Paul, Minn.

Fernandez stopped two of the four shots he faced in the shootout, and the Wild finally solved Luongo after he was stellar in regulation.

Luongo made 35 saves before the tiebreaker, including a brilliant game-saving stop on a breakaway by Todd White in overtime.
