Re “Council, Villaraigosa to get 4.98% pay increase,” Oct. 27
When I read that the Los Angeles mayor and City Council are getting a 4.98% raise, I thought that was a bit high but not unreasonable. Then I read that it was in addition to an 8.5% raise Jan. 1. Holy cow, I thought, that’s going to be some big bucks when they apply those percentages to the rest of the city’s employees. What? The rest of the employees aren’t getting such big raises? Not cops, not teachers, not firefighters, not the thousands of other people who keep Los Angeles going? Oh.
