Kansas Coach Mark Mangino has signed a five-year contract worth about $1.5 million a year.

The university announced the deal Thursday, locking up Mangino through the 2010 season. His previous contract was set to expire at the end of the 2008 season.

Under the new contract, Mangino will earn a base salary of $220,000. The university also will pay for “professional services rendered,” such as the production of TV and radio shows and product endorsements, which boost the salary to about $1.5 million annually.
