Florida 3, at Milwaukee 2: Rookie Anibal Sanchez pitched seven strong innings and Cody Ross hit a two-run home run to help the Marlins hand the Brewers their eighth straight loss.
New York 8, at Houston 7: Pinch-hitter Jose Valentin hit an RBI double to break an eighth-inning tie and Tom Glavine pitched five innings in his first start since being sidelined by a blood clot. Glavine left the game with the score tied, 6-6.
Cincinnati 6, at San Diego 2: Bronson Arroyo held the Padres to four hits in seven innings to help the Reds stop a six-game losing streak. The Reds ended the skid in time to avoid dropping below .500 for the first time since opening day.
Arizona at Washington: The game was postponed because of rain from tropical depression Ernesto. It will be made up today as part of a day-night doubleheader.
Atlanta at Philadelphia: The game was postponed because of rain from tropical depression Ernesto. It wasn’t immediately rescheduled.
