Michelle Wie didn’t just fail to make the cut in her latest men’s tournament. She finished dead last.

Wie struggled to an eight-over-par 79 Friday at the European Masters in Crans-sur-Sierre, Switzerland, missing the cut at a men’s event for the ninth time in 10 attempts.

The 16-year-old from Hawaii, who shot a 78 in Thursday’s first round, finished at 15-over 157 -- last of the 152 players who completed 36 holes.

She was 22 shots off the lead shared by Andrew McLardy (65), Bradley Dredge (67) and Marcel Siem (67) at seven-under 135.

“I’m still in shock,” Wie said. “I didn’t know what sport I was playing out there. I woke up on the wrong side of the bed again. I really just couldn’t get anything going.”

After bogeys on her first two holes Friday, Wie took double-bogey sevens on successive par-fives.

Starting her round at the 10th, she hit her third shot into the middle of the lake at the 598-yard 14th.

Then Wie drove out of bounds at the 15th.

Wie had a double bogey and three bogeys on the five par-threes Thursday, and she dropped only two strokes on those holes Friday.

“My bunker play was better, and I putted better,” she said. “But I wish I had a little more feel for the game before I came here. It was not my day.”

Wie said she looks forward to playing better against the men next week at the 84 Lumber Classic in Farmington, Pa.

“Now that I played a tournament this week, I feel I know what sport I’m playing,” she said. “I’m really motivated for next week.”

Arron Oberholser put himself in position to try to add the biggest Canadian title of them all to his Ontario trophy collection.

Oberholser, a three-time winner in the province, shot a two-under 68 in windy conditions in the Canadian Open at Ancaster, Ontario, for a share of the second-round lead with Jesper Parnevik (68), Camilo Villegas (64) and Jonathan Byrd (68) at seven-under 133.

Brett Quigley matched the course professional record with a 63 to join first-round leaders Jim Furyk and Justin Rose in a large group at six under.

Annika Sorenstam shot a seven-under 64 to take the first-round lead in the John Q. Hammons Hotel Classic, an LPGA event she has dominated in recent years.

Regularly making putts of 15 feet or more, Sorenstam had eight birdies and tied the course record for 6,602-yard Cedar Ridge Country Club at Broken Arrow, Okla., set in the tournament’s opening round last year by Maria Hjorth.

Sorenstam, the tournament’s two-time defending champion, has a two-shot lead over Diana D’Alessio, who birdied her final hole to move to five under.
