City Adopts State Condo Conversion Regulations
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved new regulations for apartment building owners who want to convert structures to condominiums.
The regulations are already part of state law, and the council’s action makes them part of city law and, therefore, easier for the city to enforce.
One of the more stringent provisions makes building owners legally liable if they evict renters for a condo conversion and then within two years change their minds and re-rent the apartments to others.
