Update -- Chivas USA’s hopes of making the playoffs suffered a potentially serious blow when tests revealed that midfielder Francisco “Paco” Palencia sprained a ligament in his right knee. The team said Friday that Palencia would be sidelined for up to six weeks. He suffered the injury in the first half of Wednesday night’s 1-0 victory at FC Dallas when he collided with Dallas midfielder Simo Valakari. Chivas also will be without forward Jesus Morales after he was red-carded in the Dallas game. Forward Matt Taylor, who had not been on the roster for the two-game trip, has since traveled to Houston for tonight’s game. Like Morales, Dynamo winger Brian Mullan and defender Eddie Robinson will be serving one-game suspensions tonight.
