They’re playing the blame game

I don’t think the Pac-10 owes any apology to the University of Oklahoma. Did anyone apologize to Missouri when Colorado was given five downs on one series? Or to the Angels in the ALCS last year?

Officials make mistakes, so deal with it. It’s part of the game. Always has been, always will be.

So an east-of-the-Rockies football program is upset about getting “homered” by the officials in an away game against a West Coast school. I’m crying my eyes out for you, Oklahoma.

Sure, you got the shaft. But after years of Pac-10 teams getting the shaft in visits to Lincoln, Tuscaloosa, Knoxville, etc., it’s about time.

The Oklahoma Sooners had a shot at beating the Oregon Ducks with a very makable field goal at the end of the game. Sure enough, the evil Pac-10 officials rose up and blocked the sure-fire attempt and ensured a Ducks victory.

The obvious and decent thing would be for the president of Oregon to request that the NCAA reverse Oregon’s win over Oklahoma and for the NCAA to do so. The fact that such an event is inconceivable speaks to the absence of integrity in intercollegiate athletics and how little we as a nation care about it.
