Patrick Quinn, 56; Was Named Actors’ Equity Executive Director

Patrick Quinn, 56, newly appointed executive director of Actors’ Equity Assn., died Sunday of a heart attack at his summer home in Bushkill, Pa., the organization said.

Quinn, who had served six years as president of the organization representing more than 45,000 stage actors and managers, was named executive director last month.

He was to have assumed the post Oct. 5.

Quinn had served in the organization since 1977 and was elected president in 2000.

A native of Philadelphia and a graduate of Temple University, he made his Broadway debut in the revival of “Fiddler on the Roof” with Zero Mostel and appeared in 10 other Broadway shows, including “A Class Act,” “Beauty and the Beast” and the revival of “The Sound of Music.”

He recently had appeared in “Sylvia” on Cape Cod, Mass., and “Gunmetal Blues” in New Jersey. Last year he starred as Daddy Warbucks in “Annie” and reprised the role in this season’s “Annie Warbucks.”
