Cabin story evokes fond memories

Share

Regarding “Cabin Has a Catch,” March 18: My family has had a cabin in Big Bear since before I was born. I’ve always lived on the East Coast, and I would go to the cabin for two weeks each year with my parents and my older brother.

We would go trout fishing, hike and spend quality time away from the noise of the big city. All of my best childhood memories are up in that cabin.

A year ago, I proposed to my fiancee in that cabin. Until that point, she had never seen snow or built a snowman.

I think our cabin might be the two-bedroom, one-bath mentioned in your story. The problems of selling are even worse than the article mentioned. Four times we have had potential buyers and four times it has fallen through.

I don’t want to see our cabin sell. If I could get the cash together today, I would buy it and stop my family from selling off my favorite place in the world.
