Authorities recovered two replica pellet guns at the scene of a fatal police shooting in Downey, where a man was killed after leading officers on a chase and allegedly threatening them.
The incident occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. Friday when Downey police responded to a report that a man armed with two handguns was getting into a pickup truck in the 9400 block of Pico Vista Road.
Officers said they tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver led them on a short chase before suddenly making a U-turn and crashing into a police car.
Police told investigators that the man had left the pickup with what appeared to be handguns and pointed them at one of the officers. Two officers fired, killing the man, whose name was not released Saturday.
