* at Kansas City 3, Minnesota 1: Jorge De La Rosa (2-1) pitched a career-high eight innings and retired 16 in a row during one stretch for the Royals.
* Cleveland 6, at Tampa Bay 4: Ryan Garko hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the ninth inning at St. Petersburg, Fla., to help the Indians overcome James Shields, who struck out eight of nine batters in one stretch.
* at Baltimore 7, Toronto 3: Nick Markakis and Miguel Tejada each had three RBIs to help the Orioles complete their first three-game home sweep of the Blue Jays in 13 years.
* at Detroit 6, Chicago 5: Marcus Thames hit a tying homer with two outs in the ninth inning and Placido Polanco singled home the winning run in the 12th for the Tigers.
* at Boston 7, New York 6: The first-place Red Sox moved four games ahead of the third-place Yankees.
