* at San Francisco 2, Arizona 1: Barry Bonds hit his 740th home run and Matt Cain earned his first win of the season. Cain pitched a three-hitter for his third career complete game and first since a one-hitter May 21 at Oakland.

* St. Louis 12, at Chicago 9 (10 innings): Albert Pujols hit a three-run homer in the 10th and Scott Rolen had a career-best five hits for the Cardinals. Preston Wilson singled to start the 10th against Ryan Dempster. David Eckstein singled off Aramis Ramirez’s glove at third, then Pujols hit his fifth homer of the season.

* at Milwaukee 4, Houston 3: Dave Bush gave up three runs and five hits in eight-plus innings to improve to 3-0 in his career against the Astros.

* at Florida 12, Washington 6: Dan Uggla homered twice and drove in six runs and Miguel Cabrera hit a drive into the upper deck to help the Marlins win at Miami.

* at Colorado 4, San Diego 2: Jason Hirsh outpitched Greg Maddux for the second time this season to win at Denver.

* Philadelphia 9, at Cincinnati 3: Ryan Howard homered in his first game back from an injury to help Freddy Garcia earn his first National League victory.

* Atlanta 9, at New York 6: Braves Manager Bobby Cox was ejected for the 127th time in his career, four behind John McGraw’s record.

* Pittsburgh 7, at Dodgers 5: The Pirates were helped by three Dodgers errors and Adam LaRoche’s home run.
