Baby, do you feel like dancing?

“Here’s looking at you, kid,” “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn” and “Rosebud” are among the many memorable movie lines uttered through the years. But to countless women -- and perhaps more than a few good men -- they don’t hold a candle to “Nobody puts Baby in a corner,” which was delivered with swaggering perfection by Patrick Swayze in the 1987 romantic musical “Dirty Dancing.”

Considered by some to be the “Star Wars” for young women, “Dirty Dancing” was named one of the top 10 date movies of all time, according to an E! Entertainment Television poll of industry executives and celebrities, and it ranked No. 93 in the “AFI 100 Years ... 100 Passions” list.

Not bad for a low-budget film with a then less-than-stellar cast.

Over the last two decades, moviegoers have swooned over this romance between swivel-hipped Catskills resort dance instructor Johnny Castle (Swayze) and the gangly “Baby” Houseman (Jennifer Grey).

On Tuesday and Wednesday, to celebrate the film’s 20th anniversary and herald the arrival of a two-disc DVD on May 8, Baby and Johnny are returning to theaters nationwide, including about 30 in Southern California.

“Dirty Dancing” has taken in more than $170 million worldwide and sold more than 10 million DVDs already. The tune “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” won an Oscar, and Swayze even scored a hit with his composition “She’s Like the Wind,” though we really have no idea what the lyrics “She’s like the wind through my tree” actually mean.
