A school district employee resigned after administrators began investigating an e-mail titled “Proud to be White” that was deemed racially offensive by fellow employees, officials said.

Keith Greer, a microcomputer specialist for the Central Unified School District, quit Wednesday after the e-mail message sent from his district e-mail account was reported by a fellow employee who was offended, district spokeswoman Courtney Roque-Bautista said.

Greer was one of several employees who sent e-mails last week “that were offensive and upset some of the intended recipients,” Supt. Marilou Ryder said.

“You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you’re not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride you call us racists,” the e-mail said, according to a TV report.

The district would not say how many other employees were involved, but said Thursday none had been suspended because that process has to go through the school board.
