Lisa Leslie, a three-time WNBA most valuable player and three-time Olympic gold medalist, has signed a multiyear contract to continue playing for the Sparks, the club announced Thursday.

Leslie, who will turn 35 in July, announced in December that she was pregnant and would sit out the 2007 season. A seven-time All-WNBA first-team selection and former USC All-American, she had not indicated whether she planned to return.

“I began my WNBA career in Los Angeles 10 years ago and I’m thrilled to continue to play here,” Leslie, who is signed through the 2009 season, said in a statement released by the Sparks. “There is nowhere else I’d rather be.”
