Wild Rivers gets another year to find a new home
Wild Rivers water park, slated to close to make room for an Irvine Co. development, will get another year to find a new home, the developer said Friday.
The attraction, which draws more than 400,000 visitors from May to September, has leased the same 24 acres for more than two decades, park officials said.
But the Irvine Co. plans to build 3,700 housing units on the land, which also is home to a children’s summer camp.
Their leases were set to expire in October, but Irvine Mayor Beth Krom this week asked the developer to extend them through next summer.
