That was a good job description

THANK YOU for Charles McNulty’s insightful and highly articulate article about directors and how they inform the work [“A Lack of Direction,” Aug. 19].

Most people do not understand the artistic leadership of directors, and many do not give them the credit they are due.

We at the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers are always struggling to explain to the layman (and sometimes the industry itself) what a director does.

I am taking the liberty of making sure the executive board of SSDC reads his comments.
