* Pittsburgh 4, at Houston 1: Jose Bautista homered twice and Matt Morris won his first game for the Pirates. Morris (8-8), who came over in a trade from the Giants on July 31, went six innings and yielded four hits and one run. He was 0-1 in his first four starts for the Pirates. After giving up a single to Hunter Pence in the first inning, he retired 14 of the next 15 batters, including 12 in a row.

* San Diego 4, at Philadelphia 3: Kevin Kouzmanoff hit a go-ahead homer off Brett Myers in the ninth inning and the Padres handed the slumping Phillies their fourth consecutive loss. Philadelphia has lost six of seven to fall four games behind the wild-card leading Padres.

* at Cincinnati 11, Florida 7: Ken Griffey Jr. drove in four runs and hit career homer No. 591 to help the Reds hand the Marlins their 10th loss in 11 games. Adam Dunn hit a three-run homer in the seventh off reliever Byung-Hyun Kim, who signed as a free agent earlier in the day. Florida is a season-high 16 games under .500 at 57-73.

* at St. Louis 5, Atlanta 4: The Cardinals ended Tim Hudson’s nine-game winning streak. Hudson, who had not lost since June 4, saw an even longer streak end. He had been 76-0 when given a lead of three or more runs, dating to Aug. 23, 2000 when he was with Oakland and lost, 7-5, to Cleveland.

* at Colorado 5, Washington 1: Ubaldo Jimenez gave up three hits over seven innings. In his last three starts, he has yielded one run and 10 hits in 20 innings.

* at San Francisco 6, Milwaukee 2: The Giants scored four runs on a walk and five consecutive singles in the first inning, as the Brewers lost for the 20th time in 29 games.

* at Arizona 3, Chicago 1: Conor Jackson hit a two-run homer and Doug Davis won for the sixth time in seven decisions.

* at New York 4, Dodgers 3: The Dodgers hit consecutive homers (Luis Gonzalez and Russell Martin in the seventh inning) for the third time this season.
