Driver is killed when car crashes into backyard
A 46-year-old man was killed early Wednesday after losing control of a rental car and crashing into the backyard of a home.
Michael Hansen was pronounced dead at the scene near Rancho Niguel Road and Rancho de Linda shortly after 6 a.m., authorities said.
“Our initial guess is that he fell asleep because there were no skid marks at the scene,” said Lt. Larry Abbot, an Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
Hansen’s car slid off an embankment and landed on its roof in the backyard.
