San Jose 3, at Colorado 2: Steve Bernier, Milan Michalek and Mike Grier scored, and Evgeni Nabokov made 33 saves. Colorado lost to San Jose for the second time in four nights.

at Pittsburgh 3, Phoenix 1: Kris Letang scored the go-ahead goal off Sidney Crosby’s pass midway through the third period and the Penguins got their fourth victory in five games.

Boston 3, at N.Y. Islanders 1: Tim Thomas stopped 33 shots to help the Bruins win for the first time on Long Island in 11 games. Boston was 0-5-4-1 at the Nassau Coliseum since a 4-2 victory on Dec. 22, 2001.

Dallas 2, at Columbus 1: Niklas Hagman’s goal in the shootout was the difference for the Stars. Hagman, the 10th player in the shootout, skated in on goalie Pascal Leclaire and flicked a backhander past him.

Carolina 4, at N.Y. Rangers 0: Matt Cullen had two assists in his return to Madison Square Garden and Cam Ward earned his second shutout of the season for the Hurricanes. Cullen was traded back to the Hurricanes after one season with the Rangers.

at Kings 4, Edmonton 3: Mathieu Garon made 31 saves in regulation and stopped all three shots he faced in the shootout.
