* Phoenix 122, at Washington 107: Steve Nash had a season-high 19 assists, and Raja Bell had 14 of his 22 points during a game-deciding third quarter, helping the Suns win their fifth in a row. In all, the Suns had 42 assists on their 50 baskets. “When the ball moves like that,” Nash said, “we’re difficult to guard.”
* Indiana 115, at Orlando 109: Trailing, 93-89, with 8:45 left, the Pacers used a 14-1 run to erase the last of what had been a 73-58 deficit in the third quarter. Jamaal Tinsley scored seven consecutive points during the run as Indiana took advantage of the Magic’s poor three-point shooting. Orlando was 12 of 35 from beyond the arc, but only five for 18 in the second half.
* at Philadelphia 101, New York 90: Jamal Crawford scored the Knicks’ first 13 points of the fourth quarter to help cut the gap to 86-80. But the 76ers took control to take a 94-80 lead with 3:06 left. Stephon Marbury returned to the lineup a day after attending the funeral of his father, who died Sunday night. He played only 13 minutes and scored two points.
* Houston 96, at New Jersey 89: The Rockets, who never trailed, won for the fifth time in a row at East Rutherford. Jason Kidd returned to the Nets’ lineup after a one-game absence, but his game didn’t until it was too late. He finished with 10 points -- eight in the fourth quarter.
* Chicago 98, at Detroit 91: The Bulls won despite Chauncey Billups’ 15 fourth-quarter points. Chicago has won four of its last five and ended the Pistons’ winning streak at five games.
* at Boston 112, Toronto 84: The Celtics (16-2), who improved to 10-0 at home, are off to the NBA’s best start and their best home mark since opening the 1984-85 season 12-0. They have won all but one of their home games by double digits.
* at New Orleans 118, Memphis 116 (OT): Chris Paul made a driving layup through a crowd of defenders with 1.8 seconds left in overtime, capping a game of career highs. He made five three-point baskets on his way to 43 points, both career highs, to go with nine assists and four steals.
* at Seattle 104, Milwaukee 98: Kevin Durant matched his career high with 35 points, and the SuperSonics held off Michael Redd and the Bucks. Redd finished with a season-high 41 points, including 25 in the second half.
* at Golden State 120, Miami 113: Baron Davis scored 13 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Warriors. The Heat led by as many as 18 points but was outscored, 21-4, during a four-minute stretch late in the fourth quarter.
* at San Antonio 104, Utah 98: The Jazz has not won in San Antonio since 1999.
* Clippers 97, at Sacramento 87: Trailing by 11 points entering the third quarter, the Clippers took control in the second half behind the inside play of Chris Kaman.
