What’s your favorite performance this year?

“Hal Holbrook in ‘Into the Wild’ -- that scene in the truck when he says, ‘I want to adopt you.’ I loved the whole movie, but when that scene came, he broke me in a hundred pieces. It was one of those moments when he’s not just being a good actor, he’s being a whole, full, human soul. To see a human being there, with no layers, that’s very powerful.”
