NBC to air ‘Monk,’ ‘Psych’

Stimulated by the ongoing writers strike, NBC executives said Tuesday that they will broadcast the latest episodes of “Monk” and “Psych” -- borrowed from sister cable network USA -- starting in March.

The new episodes will be shown first on Friday nights on USA, then again on Sunday nights on NBC, presumably to fill holes left by shows that have had to close production due to the strike.

The work stoppage only accelerated ongoing discussions to share programming between the divisions, said Ben Silverman and Marc Graboff, co-chairmen of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios. “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” for instance, moved from NBC to USA this year but continued to show new episodes on NBC. USA also runs episodes of “Law & Order: SVU.”
