Couple held on bribery charges
A West Hollywood couple was arrested on allegations they paid a Thai official $1.7 million to get a contract to run the Bangkok International Film Festival.
Gerald Green, 75, was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport, the U.S. attorney’s office said. He and his wife, Patricia, face charges of conspiracy and of violating the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
The Greens are accused of bribing the festival’s president, who was the governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Jerome Mooney, a lawyer for Green, didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.
