For the pretty and powerful attending the recent “Vogue Living: Houses, Gardens, People” book signing at Oscar de la Renta’s Melrose Place atelier, a bonus awaited upstairs: the fashion designer’s home collection. In a suite done up with crewel-print wallpaper, sisal carpet and olive velvet, De la Renta’s eye for detail was evident in made-to-order pieces such as whitewashed X-based ottomans with grotto-style carving ($2,371 each, shown here) and a round-backed Trellis armchair, an intricate fretwork piece made of weathered pine. The boutique also stocks De la Renta’s designs for the Italian porcelain firm Richard Ginori. 8446 Melrose Place, L.A.; (323) 653-0200.
