Livingston gives performance they’ve expected

Now that’s what the Clippers want from Shaun Livingston.

Livingston scored 14 points and had a career-high 14 assists in Saturday’s 103-90 victory over the Golden State Warriors at Staples Center.

Livingston’s aggressive play helped the Clippers end a losing streak at four games, and Coach Mike Dunleavy was pleased with the performance of the third-year point guard.

“He had a couple of really good days in practice, as far as being more aggressive, exploring and then making good decisions ... either pulling out or staying in attack mode,” Dunleavy said. “This is what I want. I want him to be aggressive. If he’s doing stuff I don’t want him to do, I’ll let him know.

“Until I tell him to pull back, I want him to push the ball every time and I want him to explore. I want him to use his abilities. That’s what could take us to another level.”

Reserve forward James Singleton also received high marks from Dunleavy for his eight-rebound performance in 13 minutes.

Singleton’s strong work on offense -- he had five offensive rebounds -- extended key possessions in the second half.

“I’ve talked to James about just doing what he does,” Dunleavy said. “Don’t try to do more than what you do, and that’s what helped us.

“He got us six extra possessions. He had five offensive boards and he picked up a steal. It was good. It was a nice factor for us.”

Chris Kaman, sidelined since the All-Star break because of flu-like symptoms, returned to practice Sunday and might play tonight against the Charlotte Bobcats at Staples Center. Kaman said he lost 13 pounds because of his illness.

“He missed his first eight shots and then he started to get into a groove” in practice, Dunleavy said. “It’s going to be a little bit of time for him.”

Cuttino Mobley (groin), Sam Cassell (abdomen) and Tim Thomas (back spasms) did not practice.
