Its extraordinary Internet fanfare didn’t translate into stellar box office returns, but “Snakes on a Plane” (New Line, $29) is a fun B-movie thriller starring Samuel L. Jackson as a fast-talking, no-nonsense FBI agent escorting the witness to a mob hit from Hawaii to Los Angeles. Also smuggled on board are countless deadly snakes an L.A.-based crime lord hopes will prevent the flight from ever reaching its destination.

Entertaining extras feature a kicky gag reel, 10 deleted scenes, a breezy “making of” featurette, a profile of the film’s snake trainer, a look at the movie’s intricate special effects, a mini-documentary on the Internet hype and amusing commentary with director David Ellis, Jackson -- who dominates the proceedings -- and other members of the cast and crew.

The ribald, politically incorrect -- and critically lambasted -- comedy “Artie Lange’s Beer League” (Echo Bridge, $27) arrived and vanished from theaters in a nano-second last fall. Yet this baseball comedy starring and co-written by the Howard Stern radio show regular is being released in a two-disc collector’s edition.

Extras include a tasteless “Beer Goggles” short, an embarrassing behind-the-scenes featurette, the unrated trailer, a disheveled Lange’s appearances on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “Best Damn Sports Show Period,” footage from the premiere in Las Vegas and unrated commentary from Lange that’s not for the faint of heart and far tamer observations with co-writer and director Frank Sebastiano.

Renny Harlin directed the derivative horror film “The Covenant” (Sony, $29) about four young men who just happen to belong to a supernatural legacy. Steven Strait and Laura Ramsey star. Extras include a by-the-numbers production featurette and amiable commentary from Harlin, who does provide some interesting tidbits on the technical aspects of the production.

Four years after it was made the grisly gangster film “Shottas” (Sony, $25) was briefly released in theaters in November. Written and directed by Cess Silvera and starring Bob Marley’s son, Kymani Marley, “Shottas” follows the lives of two friends from the mean streets of Kingston, Jamaica, to Miami, where they become high-living criminals. The two-disc set includes production featurettes, a “Shottas” dictionary, a video introduction with Marley and Silvera and commentary with the director and cast.
