Canucks beat Flames, win fourth in a row

Alex Burrows scored his first goal in 48 games and the Vancouver Canucks held off the Calgary Flames, 3-2, on Tuesday night at Calgary, Canada, for their season-best fourth consecutive victory.

Trevor Linden and Brendan Morrison also scored for Vancouver, which has won all four games in the streak against Northwest Division opponents.

The Canucks are one point behind first-place Minnesota and one ahead of Calgary.

Matthew Lombardi scored twice for the Flames, who lost for only the second time in their last 14 home games -- both to Vancouver.

Edmonton 4, Florida 1 -- Ryan Smyth scored his 20th goal and the Oilers ended a four-game losing streak at Edmonton.

Pittsburgh 3, Carolina 0 -- Sidney Crosby scored twice and set up another goal to become the first NHL player with 60 points and the Penguins won at Pittsburgh.

Philadelphia 3, New York Islanders 2 -- Mike Knuble had a goal and an assist and the Flyers won their third in a row at Uniondale, N.Y.

New York Rangers 3, New Jersey 2 -- Marcel Hossa scored in the eighth round of a shootout to give the Rangers the victory at East Rutherford, N.J.

Montreal 5, Tampa Bay 2 -- Tomas Plekanec scored his second goal 6:01 into the third period, sending the Canadiens to victory at Montreal.

Chicago 4, St. Louis 1 -- Nikolai Khabibulin made 38 saves and the Blackhawks erased a third-period deficit with a three-goal flurry at St. Louis, ending the Blues’ eight-game point streak.

Minnesota 5, Atlanta 1 -- Pierre-Marc Bouchard had two goals and two assists and the Wild improved to an NHL-best 17-3-1 at home.
