Sabres stop Canucks in shootout, 4-3
Ales Kotalik scored the decisive shootout goal, capping the Buffalo Sabres’ come-from-behind 4-3 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Friday night at Buffalo, N.Y.
The Sabres’ Chris Drury tied the score with 39.1 seconds left in the third period. Ryan Miller, who stopped 25 shots, giving up one goal in four shootout attempts. The Canucks, who lost for only the second time in 12 games, also had a six-game road win streak end.
Columbus 3, Detroit 1 -- Dan Fritsche, Alexander Svitov and Adam Foote scored goals and Fredrik Norrena made 41 saves to lead the Blue Jackets at Columbus, Ohio. The Blue Jackets, 24th in the NHL on the power play, scored twice in eight man-advantage chances.
Minnesota 3, Chicago 0 -- Manny Fernandez stopped 24 shots, and Marian Gaborik scored two goals at Chicago to help the Wild hand the Blackhawks their eighth consecutive loss.
