* Seattle 4, at Oakland 0: Felix Hernandez held the Athletics to two hits in eight innings and Adrian Beltre hit a three-run homer in the second inning. Hernandez didn’t give up a hit until Mark Ellis’ single to right-center with two out in the fifth and didn’t allow a runner to reach third base.

* Cleveland 9, at Toronto 4: Casey Blake hit a three-run homer, and Victor Martinez, Grady Sizemore and Trot Nixon hit solo shots to help Fausto Carmona win consecutive starts for the first time since May 12 and 17.

* at Detroit 3, Boston 2 (13 innings): Ivan Rodriguez’s two-out RBI single in the 13th won it, but the Tigers lost All-Star second baseman Placido Polanco in the eighth inning because of a strained rib cage muscle.

* Baltimore 3, at Texas 0: Erik Bedard faced the minimum 27 hitters. Desi Relaford singled with one out in the first and Sammy Sosa singled leading off the eighth, but Bedard induced double-play grounders to get each runner.

* at Kansas City 8, Tampa Bay 7: Mark Grudzielanek’s RBI single off Shawn Camp with two out in the ninth inning won it. Tony Pena Jr. singled leading off the ninth against Camp, was sacrificed to second, and took third on Esteban German’s infield out before Grudzielanek’s single to right.

* at Chicago 3, Minnesota 1: Mark Buehrle yielded six hits over eight scoreless innings to a Twins team that had 36 hits in a doubleheader Friday, including eight homers.

* Angels 2, at New York 1 (13 innings): Scot Shields hasn’t yielded a run in his last 17 outings covering 22 innings.
