Celebutante Nicole Richie was sentenced Friday to four days in jail and placed on three years’ probation after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of drugs.

Richie, 25, who stars with heiress Paris Hilton on the reality television show “The Simple Life,” admitted to driving under the influence of drugs and to a previous DUI conviction.

She has until Sept. 28 to serve her jail time and must pay a $2,048 fine, according to the office of Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Steve Cooley.

Richie was given six hours credit on her jail time.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Commissioner Steve Lubell warned her about ignoring the terms of her probation.

“If you violate the terms of probation, you can and will go to county jail,” he said.

Lubell said the penalty he gave Richie was “standard” for the offense.

Richie, who wore a black dress and dark sunglasses, entered and left the Glendale courthouse without commenting to a throng of reporters gathered at the entrance.

She was arrested Dec. 11 after driving the wrong way on the 134 Freeway in Burbank.

California Highway Patrol officers said they found Richie, the vehicle’s lone occupant, stopped in the carpool lane. She admitted to officers that she had smoked marijuana and taken the painkiller Vicodin, police said.

In 2003, Richie was arrested on suspicion of heroin possession and spent time in rehabilitation.
