14,000 DWP customers briefly lose power
A switching error at a Department of Water and Power facility Saturday briefly knocked out power to more than 14,000 residential and commercial customers in an area from Park La Brea to the Beverly Center.
DWP spokesman Joe Ramallo said the error at a distribution station was corrected and power was restored in 12 minutes.
A Beverly Center representative said the large retail and restaurant complex was affected by the outage, but emergency lights came on and no problems were reported.
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center also was affected, Ramallo said, but he did not know to what extent. A hospital official did not return calls seeking comment.
