Dallas, Pachuca end up even, 1-1

Christian Gimenez scored on a penalty kick in the 87th minute to help CF Pachuca tie FC Dallas, 1-1, Saturday night in the teams’ second game of SuperLiga 2007 Group A play.

The Mexican club was awarded the penalty kick after midfielder Adrian Serioux was called for holding Damian Alvarez inside the penalty box.

Dallas has two points after tying both of its games; Pachuca got its first point of SuperLiga 2007 and is 0-1-1.

Dario Sala helped Dallas preserve a tie by making a diving two-handed save at the top of the goalie’s box in the 91st minute on a shot by Andres Chitiva.

Dallas forward Carlos Ruiz scored the game’s first goal in the 75th minute when he knocked a shot into the left corner of the net from inside the goalie’s box. Bobby Rhine set up the goal by crossing a pass from the right flank, which grazed the fingertips of goalie Miguel Calero and bounced straight to Ruiz.
