* at Washington 4, San Diego 3 (10 innings): Pinch-hitter Ronnie Belliard singled home Cristian Guzman with the winning run. Guzman started the decisive rally with his fourth hit, a one-out single against Cla Meredith. Ryan Zimmerman’s single to right sent Guzman to third before Belliard hit a grounder that second baseman Marcus Giles gloved in short right field but could not make a play on.

* San Francisco 13, at Philadelphia 0: Fred Lewis hit his first grand slam, and Ray Durham and Pedro Feliz each hit three-run shots to support Matt Morris (6-2), who yielded only a single over six innings. “He’s been a stopper when we need somebody to pitch well,” Manager Bruce Bochy said of Morris, who improved to 5-2 after Giants losses.

* Arizona 5, at New York 1: Brandon Webb pitched the Diamondbacks to their eighth consecutive victory. The Mets were without third baseman David Wright (back spasms) and center fielder Carlos Beltran (bruised knee), as well as outfielders Shawn Green (broken foot) and Moises Alou (strained quad), both of whom are on the disabled list.
