Former Bay Area official named toll road chief
Orange County’s toll road agencies Wednesday hired the former top official for the Bay Area Rapid Transit District to oversee the county’s 67-mile toll road system.
Thomas E. Margro, 62, will replace William Woollett Jr., who was interim CEO for three years. He will earn $225,000 a year as the corridor agencies’ CEO, a spokeswoman said.
Margro’s chief priority will be to complete a controversial extension of the 241 tollway through San Onofre State Beach and connect to Interstate 5, said Jim Thor, chairman of the Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor Agency.
