Arizona State moves on

Arizona State advanced to the College World Series in Omaha for the second time in three years Sunday by completing a two-game sweep of Mississippi in their NCAA Division I super regional at Winkles Field in Tempe. Josh Satow (13-3) gave up five hits in 7 2/3 scoreless innings for the Sun Devils (48-13), who defeated the Rebels, 7-1. Brett Wallace homered and drove in three runs.

Joey Wong’s run-scoring single with two out in the ninth inning spoiled Zach Putnam’s bid for a no-hitter and gave defending national champion Oregon State a 1-0 victory over Michigan in the opening game of their super regional at Corvallis, Ore.... Isaiah Howes hit a grand slam and drove in six runs as Louisville beat Oklahoma State, 20-2, at Louisville, Ky., to earn its first trip to the College World Series.... North Carolina beat South Carolina, 9-4, at Chapel Hill, N.C., to earn its second straight trip to the College World Series.
