* at Chicago Cubs 2, Houston 1: Carlos Zambrano gave up three hits and an unearned run in eight strong innings for the Cubs. Ryan Dempster, who blew a save chance Sunday night when he gave up three runs in the eighth inning, pitched the ninth for his 13th save in 15 opportunities. He got slugger Carlos Lee to ground into a game-ending double play. Before the game, the Cubs put third baseman Aramis Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list and reinstated outfielder Cliff Floyd from the bereavement list.

* Seattle 8, at Cleveland 7: Raul Ibanez hit two two-run homers and then doubled in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning. Jose Vidro started the ninth with a single against Joe Borowski. Ibanez doubled to right-center with one out for his fifth run batted in, leading the Mariners to their fourth straight win and eighth in the last nine games.

* at Philadelphia 3, Chicago White Sox 0: Adam Eaton pitched four-hit ball for seven innings, and Ryan Howard, Pat Burrell and Jimmy Rollins homered for the Phillies. Eaton (7-4) pitched out of a pair of jams, made a nifty defensive play to help his cause and won for the fourth time in five starts.

* at San Francisco 4, Toronto 3: Barry Bonds hit his 747th homer with a two-run shot during the Giants’ win, only the second home run since May 8 for the slugger and his first this month. San Francisco’s Matt Morris (7-3) recovered from a shaky start and pitched a seven-hitter for his 23rd complete game. The Giants ended a 21-inning scoreless stretch on Ryan Klesko’s run-scoring groundout in the first, then Klesko led off the fourth with a single before Bonds homered.

* at Dodgers 5, New York Mets 3: James Loney doubled home the go-ahead run in the sixth inning and Randy Wolf (8-4) earned the victory, moving him into a tie with Philadelphia’s Cole Hamels for the most wins in the NL. The NL East-leading Mets have lost seven of their last eight games.
