No. 17 Maryland falls to Miami

Jack McClinton scored 17 points, Brian Asbury had 12 and undermanned Miami upset No. 17 Maryland, 67-62, in the first round of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament Thursday at Tampa, Fla.
The Hurricanes (12-19) nearly squandered a 15-point lead in the second half, but McClinton and Asbury combined to make five consecutive free throws in the final 34 seconds to stop the Terrapins’ seven-game winning streak.
Miami will play Boston College today.
Mike Jones had 15 points for Maryland (24-7).
Louisiana State 76, No. 22 Tennessee 67 -- The Tigers rode Glen Davis to their overtime victory in the first round of the Southeastern Conference tournament at Atlanta.
Davis scored 25 points and had 15 rebounds as LSU (17-14) earned the upset.
Since losing in the championship game in 1991, Tennessee (22-10) is 7-16 in the SEC event and has not advanced past the second round.
No. 13 Pittsburgh 89, No. 18 Marquette 79 -- Aaron Gray scored 22 points and the Panthers defeated the Golden Eagles in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament at New York.
Sam Young had 17 and Mike Cook 16 for Pittsburgh (26-6), which lost both regular-season meetings to Marquette -- including a 75-71 defeat on Saturday that spoiled the Panthers’ chances of getting a share of the conference title.
Dan Fitzgerald matched his career high with 20 points to lead Marquette (24-9).
Wake Forest 114, Georgia Tech 112 -- Harvey Hale scored 21 points after regulation and helped the Demon Deacons defeat the Yellow Jackets in double overtime in the first-round of the ACC tournament at Tampa, Fla.
Wake Forest (15-15), which made 16 of 23 shots from three-point range, will play Virginia Tech today.
Thaddeus Young led Georgia Tech (20-11) with 30 points.
