Airport police take 3 into custody at LAX
Two people were arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday after airport police discovered one of them was carrying a gun without a permit, sources said.
Two plainclothes security officers -- one male, one female -- escorting a prisoner in handcuffs provided documents to officials at a checkpoint in Terminal 3 about 8 a.m., saying they had the authority to escort him to Hawaii for a court hearing, law enforcement officials said.
After running a check, airport police found that neither person was a police officer and that the woman did not have a permit to carry a firearm, according to a statement from airport police. They were taken into custody, as was the prisoner. Officials declined to release their names.
