Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh were tied for the lead after Friday’s second round of the Wachovia Championship at Charlotte, N.C., setting up a weekend showdown between the top two players on the PGA Tour this year.

Woods shot a four-under-par 68. Singh played the final three holes in three under to salvage a one-under 71 and join Woods at six-under 138.

Also tied for the lead was Arron Oberholser, who birdied his last three holes for a three-under 69. They had a one-shot lead over Ted Purdy (69) and Jason Bohn (72), who were among six players who had at least a share of the lead.

The other was Padraig Harrington, who made only five pars, ran off four birdies to build a one-shot lead, then threw it away by hitting into the creek on the 18th to finish with a triple bogey and a 75.

Nicole Castrale shot a four-under 67 in muddy conditions to take the first-round lead in the SemGroup Championship at Broken Arrow, Okla.

In search of her first LPGA Tour win, Castrale had the only bogey-free round of the day to take a one-stroke lead over Brandie Burton, Angela Stanford and Karin Sjodin.

Castrale got a favorable kick off a ridge at the 13th hole, then made a four-foot birdie putt to get to four under.

After hitting into a greenside bunker at No. 17, she maintained her lead with a par-saving 15-footer.

Twenty players were within three strokes of the 28-year-old former USC player on the leaderboard, including top-ranked Lorena Ochoa, Morgan Pressel, Paula Creamer and Se Ri Pak.

Leonard Thompson shot a tournament-record eight-under 64 to take two-stroke lead in the FedEx Kinko’s Classic at Lakeway, Texas, making the 60-year-old the Champions Tour’s oldest first-round leader of the year.

Loren Roberts opened with a 66. He was tied with Massy Kuramoto, who shared the lead with Thompson before making a double bogey on his final hole, the par-four ninth.

Thompson, a three-time winner on the 50-and-over tour after winning three times on the PGA Tour, had his first opening-round lead since the 2005 Bank of America in Boston.
