Suit seeks $2.5 million from school owners
The state attorney general filed a lawsuit Monday seeking to recoup $2.5 million in lost tuition from the former owners of a defunct computer-training school.
According to the suit, the for-profit MicroSkills billed hundreds of students for classes that were never held.
The owners continued to enroll students even after they decided to close the school, according to the suit, which also seeks civil penalties of at least $2 million.
The lawsuit targets San Diego husband and wife Firouz and Farah Memarzadeh. They did not return calls seeking comment.
As many as 350 students may have been affected, said San Diego County Dist. Atty. Bonnie Dumanis, whose office filed the suit with Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown.
