* at New York 6, Texas 2: Derek Jeter drove in three runs, Mike Mussina (2-1) pitched three-hit ball for six innings and the Yankees reached .500 for the first time since April 21 while improving to 18-2 against the Rangers since July 2005.
* Seattle 9, at Detroit 2: Jose Guillen hit a three-run homer, Cha Seung Baek (1-0) pitched a six-hitter and the Mariners ended the Tigers’ eight-game winning streak.
* at Baltimore 1, Tampa Bay 0 (10 innings): Aubrey Huff homered in the 10th and John Parrish (1-0) escaped a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the inning, retiring B.J. Upton with two outs after yielding three straight singles.
* at Kansas City 3, Oakland 2: Mike Sweeney hit a tiebreaking solo homer in the eighth inning to help end a four-game losing streak.
* Chicago 6, at Minnesota 3: John Danks (1-4) got his first major league victory. The Twins’ Torii Hunter extended his hitting streak to 23 games.
* Boston 9, at Toronto 3: The Blue Jays continued their worst stretch since a nine-game losing streak in 2002.
* at Angels 3, Cleveland 2: The Indians lost despite not allowing a runner past second base in the first six innings.
